To celebrate 15 years of Urban Kingdom, Cowley Road Studios is hosting an exclusive screening of Urban Kingdom's feature documentary film Street Smart on Thursday 26th November.
Street Smart is unavailable to watch online. This is the first ever screening of the film in Oxford
About the feature:
Street Smart is the unlikely story of British and European hip-hop fans who grew up to work with the American hip-hop legends who inspired them.
Shot over seven years by Urban Kingdom founder Nick Donnelly, this raw and cinematic documentary feature brings together rare and exclusive footage that can't be watched online.
Including:
-
The only behind the scenes footage from the only time the living members of the Wu-Tang Clan were together in the UK in over 20 years.
-
An interview with Method Man in Staten Island on the Nick Donnelly directed music video Winnebago.
-
An intimate interview with British soul singer Hannah Williams, filmed during the making of a video for her song that Jay-Z sampled on the title track of his last album 4:44.
-
The only filmed English language interview with a Danish musician whose music was sampled on Kendrick Lamar’s “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe.”
Throughout the documentary Nick Donnelly also speaks with fellow visual artists in Europe who have captured The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Nas, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar.
Join us at Boundary Brewing on Thursday 26th November from 7pm.
Book your ticket in advance to make sure you don't miss out on this special Oxford screening.
